He was born in Madrid, in 1949. Degree in Law by Universidad Complutense, Madrid. Master Degree in Human Resources by CEU University, Madrid.

Professional background

He has been head of human resources in FEMSA from 1975 to 1981. Between 1981 and 2005, he held various positions of responsibility at Barclays, such as head of personal banking, deputy general manager of administration, general manager of retail banking, business general manager, member of the board of directors, vice chairman and head of banking from individuals and SMEs. Finally, from 2005 to 2019, he worked at Banco Caixa Geral, S.A., serving as CEO, as well as chairman of the executive committee.

In October 2019, he was appointed member of the Board of Directors of ABANCA Corporación Bancaria, S.A.
